How much information is too much information on your luggage tag ?

First of all, it is OK to put your full name and address, clearly written on a piece of paper inside your bag.  If possible, try to make it clearly visible when the bag is opened.

For your luggage tag itself, your first initial, last name, e-mail address and cell phone number is all you need.  You don't have to list your full name and address if you do not want to for security reasons.  Make sure your e-mail address can be accessed while you are traveling, such as a gmail e-mail address.

The first thing an airline will do if your luggage is misplaced, is to try to call you or leave a message.  Your cell phone number is the single most important piece of information on your luggage tag.  Obiously, do not use your home phone number on your luggage tag, if you are going away from home.

Safe Journey !
